Management should ensure that water used meets the specifications recommended by the endoscope and reprocessing equipment manufacturers.

Thoroughly rinse all surfaces and channels of the endoscope and its removable parts with water to remove all traces of the high-level disinfectant or sterilant. Scopes should be rinsed 3 times with sterile water or tap water as per manufacturer’s IFUs. If an automated reprocessor is used, ensure that rinsing is performed by the machine.
